If you come to Morocco, I will buy you.

So Amanda, our friend Caitlin and I just got back this evening. We had been traveling since 4:30 this morning, so we are feeling pretty whipped out. (We took an 3 hour flight from the Canary Islands to Madrid then a 5 hour bus ride from Madrid to Granada).
You may be asking, "Canary Islands?" My reply is, oh yes, the Canary Islands!
Thanks to my dear roommate Amanda, she has a friend who lives in the Canaries. Before we headed to the Canaries for a couple of days, we had another excursion. This time we ventured to Cordoba. If you google photos you can see that when the mosque was overtaken by the Catholic Kings back-in-the-day, instead of destroying the mosque, the cathedral was built directly within the mosque...it looks very odd. It's so great that the original building was kept, but it is sad reminder religious hostility in our world's history.

After the mosque, we visited Arab baths...as in we got to experience the awesomeness that is three pools (each a different temp.) AND a message...we felt so pampered. Most of all, we felt very relaxed, which was needed because we then took a 5ish hour bus ride to Madrid, "slept" in the airport, and took a 3 hour plane ride to Tenerife (that is the Spanish spelling).
Though the weather wasn't beach friendly, it was much warmer than Granada. We met so many nice people. The Canaries are known for having warm, open, young people. Since we stayed in a friend's house, we saved money! and met many locals. It was great! One of our favorite's was name Fede (short for Federico). He is from Urugay, so when he says, for examply, pollo, she creates a "sh" instead of a "y" sound for the "ll." Well our friend Fede rode a motorcycle. When walking with him to his bike, Amanda motioned to a moto next to a wall, and immediately asked if it was his.
The bike Amanda motioned to...
Fede looked at the bike and just shook is head and then pointed in front of him and said (mind you all of this is in Spanish), "that is my bike."
Fede and his REAL bike
As you can see, comparatively, the first one is dump. So when he pointed to his actual bike, it was like the heavens opened and God's shining light broke through the clouds and the angels sang their divine hymns. It was like a scene from a movie...and it still makes me laugh when I think of it.
Overall, the Canaries were a hit! We want to go back.
On the way back from Madrid to Granada, I took these photos of the Spanish countryside.

Oh and if you are wondering about the blog title, this is a comment a Moroccan man said to our friend Frani. When she told us that story it made me 1) laugh and 2) then upon thinking more about it, it made remember that there are STILL woman who are seen as just property. (I won't give a rant, but I bet you can already tell what I think about that).
ANYWAYS,
sending my love...
